Ĝangalo

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ĝangalo [ʤanˈgalo] ("jungle" in Esperanto) is an Esperanto-language internet news website. Ĝangalo was launched in 2001 by the Brazilian Flavio Rebelo, and redesigned in 2003. The portal offers various services: news from all over the world in Esperanto, many personal blogs, very active forums in and about Esperanto, the most used chat among the esperantists, and much more. Some services are paid, and many of those who work at the webportal are professionals, which distinguishes Ĝangalo from some similar projects.

Thanks to the existing structure of Ĝangalo, with its main office in Brazil and correspondents in more than 20 countries, the portal has launched the first web television stream fully in Esperanto, Internacia Televido ("International Television").

On October 6, 2006, Rebelo announced he will no longer be directing Ĝangalo. Rebelo plans to sell the site, Ĝangalo's future is unknown.
