Číž

Číž (Hungarian: Csiz) is a village and municipality in the Rimavská Sobota District of the Banská Bystrica Region of southern Slovakia.

In historical records, the village was first mentioned in 1274 (Chyz). It belonged to the Tukovci (Tuky) family, later on to several zeman families. In 1566 and 1682 it was destroyed by the Turks. From 1938 to 1945 it belonged to Hungary under the First Vienna Award.
