Þórólfur Árnason

Þórólfur Árnason took over as the mayor of Reykjavík on February 1, 2003 when Ingibjörg Sólrún Gísladóttir the former mayor resigned in order to pursue a career in national politics. He resigned on November 30, 2004 because of a scandal that he was involved in with the oil companies in Iceland a few years earlier when he was head of marketing at Olíufélagið (Esso in Iceland).
