Ümlaut is essentially the anarcho-punk band Catharsis posing as a crust/hardcore band from Finland. They have released a record called Havoc Wreakers on 12" vinyl through the CrimethInc. and Finnish record label Combat Rock Industry. In 2005, Crimethinc released Total Disfuckincography, with all the songs Ümlaut has recorded as well as lyrics to those they have not.
Their music is fast hardcore punk, with death metal influences and blast beats. Their lyrics deal with issues such as the disparities of capitalism, homophobia, and the situation between Israel and Palestine. Ümlaut have a self-imposed 30 second time limit for their songs but have broken that rule on a few occasions. One song, "Hikken", is in Dutch. Ümlaut claims it was the only song written in Dutch that year. Other songs include: "Mass Graves for the Victims of Capitalist Machine", "Intifada (Called Terrorists by Terrorists)", and "Amor Fati".
Ümlaut are supposedly nomads and squatters, traveling from place to place on large, fast motorcycles; however, seeing as how Ümlaut is not 'real' (see above), their backstory is simply lore.
