Øverbygd is a former municipality in Troms county, Norway.

Originally, from 1837, Øverbygd was a part of Målselv formannskapsdistrikt, but it was separated from Målselv on 1 July 1925 to create a discrete municipality with 566 inhabitants.

On 1 January 1964 Øverbygd was reunited with the enlarged Målselv municipality. Before the merger Øverbygd had a population of 1 232.
