Ølstykke

Ølstykke is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Frederiksborg County in the northern part of the island of Zealand (Sjælland) in eastern Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 29 km², and has a total population of 15.358 (2005). Its mayor is Svend Kjærgaard, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.

The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Ølstykke.

Neighboring municipalities are Stenløse to the east, Slangerup to the north, Frederikssund to the west, and Gundsø to the south.

By January 1, 2007 Ølstykke municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Ledøje-Smørum and Stenløse municipalities to form the new Egedal municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 126 km² and a total population of 39,267 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Hovedstaden ("Capital Region").
