Óscar Ruiz

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Óscar Julián Ruiz Acosta (born November 1, 1969) is a Colombian football referee.

He has been a referee since January 1, 1995, and his international debut was on July 12, 1995 (Paraguay vs. Venezuela). He has officiated in the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups.

He caused controversy with his decisions in the Netherlands vs. Côte d'Ivoire match in 2006, which the Dutch won 2 - 1. Many commentators have suggested that he showed an unforgivable bias towards the European side.[citation needed]
