Óglaigh na hÉireann (CIRA splinter group)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Óglaigh na hÉireann is an Irish republican paramilitary organisation that split from the Continuity IRA in 2006.

In February 2006, the Independent Monitoring Commission reported that a new republican group styling itself Óglaigh na hÉireann had been formed, along with another organisation, Saoirse na hÉireann, after a split from the Continuity IRA. The report claimed the ONH was responsible for an assault, several hoax devices, as well as an armed post office robbery.[1]

The IMC's thirteenth report claims that the ONH "has become more dangerously active," citing several pipe bomb attacks, and another larger bombing.[2] These are the first explosive devices the ONH has deployed, and the IMC believe this shows they are indeed a real threat.
