I contacted the original author of this page, a physics professor at the university of evora, via email, explaining what wikipedia is and requesting permission to use his material on this site. My letter and his response follow below. Its in portuguese, so, use the fish :) Feel free to confirm copyright permissions with him... his email is listed on the website as afm@uevora.pt

Acabei de reparar na sua excelente pagina sobre Evora (localizada em http://evunix.uevora.pt/~femi/porttow/ ) e gostaria de lhe pedir, caso seja o autor e detentor de todos os direitos sobre o material que nela consta, se se importaria que a usasse como base para a escrita de um artigo sobre Evora na Wikipedia (enciclopedia online gratuita e sem fins lucrativos, localizada em www.wikipedia.org). Claro que se assim preferir, podera "transplantar" o seu conteudo para http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C9vora visto que a Wikipedia e desenvolvida segundo um processo colaborativo onde toda a gente, incluindo o senhor, pode acrescentar, remover, ou corrigir material. The main problem with this article about Evora is that it consists of a long list of monuments and a tidbit of history. The city as a living place does not come forth. We need information about economic and cultural life, and physiography, not forgetting communications with other Portuguese cities, either by rail or by road. The picture I get here is of a lifeless collection of monuments, which I know Evora is not. Nowhere is mention made of the distances from Lisbon or information about the surrounding plains of the Alentejo. The university, believe it or not,is not mentioned. Everyone wants to know the population of a city. What is it? I don't have contact with Évora so I wouldn´t try to write the article, but a lot is missing here. Are there no people living there or is it just a collection of monuments. Where is the mention that Évora is a World Heritage Site, one of Portugal's first?

Hi Ray, I'm sorry, I understand that it reads somewhat as a travel brochure. Those things you mentioned are indeed in the article, look in the history section.
