Everyone from the Lonely Planet guidebook to the locals I was staying with to the little girl working for the neighboring church (and acting as our guide) referred to the tree as the "tree of life" for all the profiles and images of animals that are visible in the trunk. I've included one of my photos of the "elephant" and "gorilla" (SPOILER: look for the profile of the latter to the upper left of the elephant) to demonstrate. Bobak 04:56, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

The supposed diameter of this tree is 11.3m, and is written as being the largest in the world, and it certainly appears to be. The diameter of the General Grant tree, on the other hand, is listed as 12m. What's the deal?

Tree diameters for reference purposes are measured at 1.3m above ground level. The cited larger General Grant diameter is taken at ground level, thus including the very broad root buttresses. Its diameter at 1.3m is 8.85m [1] - MPF 22:57, 29 October 2006 (UTC)

I'm living right outside of Tlacolula and I'm wondering if any studies have been done on the age of this tree on the sign it says "mas de 2,000 Anos" over 2000 years old, which is an obvious estimation, can anyone find the real age?? - Jedi canuck 17:16, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
