Zynot

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Zynot was a short-lived fork of Gentoo Linux.

[edit] History

Zynot started in 2003 when software engineer and Gentoo developer Zachary Welch registered the non-profit organization, The Zynot Foundation and sent an email to the Gentoo-dev mailing list stating his intentions for Zynot.

Starting as a fork, it was initally planned to rewrite Gentoo's Python based package manager in perl and C/C++. This idea was dropped, though, with plans to completely rewrite the package system. While some specifications were drafted, no public release was ever made, and The Zynot Foundation ceased to exist after being administratively dissolved by the State of Oregon in 2004.
