ZX Interface 2
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The ZX Interface 2 was a peripheral from Sinclair Research for its ZX Spectrum home computer. It had two joystick ports and a ROM cartridge slot. The joystick ports were not compatible with the popular Kempston interface, and thus did not work with most Spectrum games released prior to the launch of the ZX Interface 2. In addition, the pass-through expansion bus provided was stripped, only allowing a ZX Printer to be attached.
Availability of cartridge games was very limited—most games at the time came and continued to come on the cheaper cassette tape format. The use of cartridges was also problematic. They only held 16 kB starting at address 0, thus making it impossible to use any of the functions stored in the computer's BASIC ROM.
Ten games were released in all:
- Jetpac
- PSSST
- Cookie
- Tranz Am
- Chess
- Backgammon
- Hungry Horace
- Horace and the Spiders
- Planetoids
- Space Raiders
