Zupchok
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Zupchok is a fictional animal, used in David Harel's book "Computers Ltd. - What they really can't do".
In this book, the Zupchok is used in an example conversation outlining how an intelligent conversation partner, passing the Turing test, reacts to the introduction of a non-valid fact by pointing out logical flaws and using knowledge about existing things to come to the conclusion that the fact is wrong.
A Zupchok is described as a flying, novel-writing whale which has been carefully cultivated in a laboratory over several generations to ensure that its fins evolve into wing-like things that enable it to fly. It has also gradually been taught to read and write. It has a thorough knowledge of modern literature, and has the ability to write publishable mystery stories.
