The Zoran Corporation (NASDAQ:ZRAN) was founded in 1983 by Dr. Levy Gerzberg, with focus on DSP technology. Currently Zoran develops and manufactures chips that are used in a wide range of consumer electronics including DVD players, DVD recorders, HDTV, Digital Cameras and Set top boxes." Zoran is a Serbian name that was the name of one of the presidents in Serbia"

The company have sites in the silicon valley (US), Israel and Asia. The name Zoran is derived from the Hebrew word for silicon.
