The Typing of the Dead: Zombie Panic is a PlayStation 2-exclusive remake of the original Typing of the Dead that challenges players to defeat a horde of undead minions with superior typing skills. It is essentially an upgraded port of the original Dreamcast title that includes the additional features added to the PC port, such as two-player cooperative gameplay, nine new minigames (including a long phrase time attack feature), and helpful tutorial and practice modes.
Specific words will appear on the screen every time an enemy is near, and users will have to type them out in time in order to defeat them. Each time a word or phrase is typed out correctly, gunfire is executed to attack the hordes of zombies from The House of the Dead 2.
The adventure mode and graphics are generally unchanged from the original TotD, although while the in the original game the characters sported Dreamcast systems as backpacks, in this version those are replaced with PS2 models.
This game was released only in Japan. It was also sold in a bundle with a black USB keyboard.
On January 9th, 2005, a Championship tournament was held by Sega to commemorate the game's launch.[1]
