Zoe7

Zoe7, also known as Joseph Marti, is a noted psychonaut. He was a pioneer in combining hallucinogens with brain wave sensors- essentially allowing him to take psychedelics in a specific brain wave state such as REM sleep or delta wave sleep, a practice which can radically alter the experience. He is also known for his willingness to experiment, often taking dangerous drug combinations. One famous example is his experiments with a combination of an incredibly high dose of dextromethorphan, LSD, dipropyltryptamine (DPT), and dimenhydrinate. He also claims to be adept at lucid dreaming.
Zoe7 is a somewhat controversial figure in the hallucinogen-using community for many reasons. His willingness to experiment with possibly dangerous combinations of drugs and his use of many over-the-counter dissociatives such as dextromethorphan, combined with a seeming disregard for traditional conceptions and dogma surrounding hallucinogen use, has garnered criticism. His presentations often contain a comedic overtone in an area usually seen as serious have also been interpreted as disrespectful, although it is hard to see how this is markedly different behavior than seen in other less controversial figures such as Terence McKenna.
Zoe7 also visually stands out from the academic psychedelic scene. He is Mexican and wears his hair in a mullet, and usually dresses down in a baseball cap and a t-shirt.
Recently, Zoe7 has been heavily involved with South American shamanic technology. Now based in South America, he leads retreats where people pay to do ayahuasca [1]. This is a marked change from his earlier stance, where he would be more likely to utilize pharmahuasca (a.k.a., ayahuasca made with artificial chemicals instead of Brazilian plant materials); however, this has also garnered criticisms, as it is often seen as a departure from and disrespectful towards traditional customs surrounding the use of ayahuasca and as promoting "ayahuasca tourism", which many fear will radically alter and corrupt traditional South American practice.
