[edit] Seen it

I cant believe but i think i saw the zodiacal light a few days ago. But it can never be that because the phenomenon shouldnt be as bright and not across the sky. What i saw was completely different. A blue band that went across venus, mercury and Jupiter and passed the antares in scorpious..ended in saggitarius.. That was wonderful to see it a few moments after the sunset.... Thats not the zodiacal light as zodiacal light doesnt normally stretch across the sky like that. Another thing is that the same kind of band but much different and stretching the other way was seen other days too (after that day.)... it might have formed because of the clouds but the day i saw it for the first time, i thought it was the first time i'd seen the ZL. and there was my pal whom i told it was that........ NOW I AM CONFUSED.

Did you see this in october of 2003? If so, you saw the most powerful arorua on record, spawned by the most powerful solar storm ever. it was so powerfull, it defied our traditional view of nice, shiny curtainy arorua. It was just a bright blue arch all the way across the sky. I saw it very well, directly overhead even where I live in Kansas. Nick Warren 04:27, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

No I saw it in 2005. It must have been some 'messy' trick of the atmosphere. Now is the time to see the zodiacal light anyways. Moon wont disturb the sight for sometime now.--202.70.64.15 12:56, 25 March 2006 (UTC) DIPPY http://www.geocities.com/kosmandu

[edit] Split

I think the Zodiacal band should be split from Zodiacal Light, as the zl is generally the triangular patch, while the zb is the extended band. Otherwise, gegenschein should just redirect here instead of being an article. 132.205.94.9 02:22, 13 September 2005 (UTC)
