A high-ranking aide of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in the Iraq War, Ziad Khalaf Raja al-Karbouly was captured by Jordanian intelligence officers in May 2006 and gave information that may have resulted in al-Zarqawai's death in an airstrike a month later. [1]

A native of Al-Qa'im, he confessed to having kidnapped two Morocco embassy workers in Iraq in October 2005, while employed as a customs agent for the Iraqi government.
