Zephyr Field
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Zephyr Field is home to the New Orleans Zephyrs, the AAA affiliate of the New York Mets major league baseball team. Opened in 1998 in Metairie (Jefferson Parish), a suburb of New Orleans, the stadium seats 11,000 fans. Previous to this, the Zephyrs played at Privateer Park on the campus of the University of New Orleans.
On September 3, 2005, FEMA director Mike Brown announced that, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Zephyr Field would be used as a military hospital.
