Zecters
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Zecters are fictional devices that exist in the japanese tokusatsu series, Kamen Rider Kabuto. Zecters, also known as the Masked Rider System, are compilation of mobile systems that seem to affect space/time. They were created by the Natives, a species of Worm that arrived on Earth 35 years ago. These Natives in turn gave the Zecters to humans, so that they may protect them from alien Worms that would arrive later.
They appear to be sentient, "living" creatures, as shown at times such as the TheBee Zecter leaving Yaguruma on its own, and the Kabuto Zecter once buzzing over to the Bistro la Salle restaurant and tapping on a window to get Tendou's attention, and once later slicing ramen noodles for soup to alert Tendou to a Worm attack.
Currently, there are 8 different "henshin" Zecters along with the Hyper Zecter which is used to by Hyper Kabuto to evolve into Hyper Form. Another Zecter, known as the Perfect Zecter, serves as Hyper Kabuto's weapon.

[edit] Background
Although as sentient beings, Zecters can fail to recognize their true owners. The Drake Zecter failed to tell the difference between the real Daisuke and the fake Daisuke and ended up helping the fake, since he was holding the Drake Grip. After Kagami became TheBee, he was marked with the TheBee crest on his chest; the same goes to Kageyama. This suggests that those chosen by the Zecter bear the crest of the particular Zecter on their body, though it is unclear if Tendou, Yaguruma (as TheBee), Daisuke, or Tsurugi were marked in this way, or whether Kagami was re-marked as Gatack. Due to the fact that the Natives were the creators of the Masked Rider System, they are able to use the power of every Zecter.
[edit] Primary Systems
The Zecters feature 3 Primary Systems that are located within all "henshin" Zecters, partly excluding the Hopper Zecters.
[edit] Cast Off/Put On System
The Cast Off System is used to cast off the Masked Form armor and change into Rider Form. When the Rider "Casts Off", and if someone is in close proximity and fails to get out of the way (either by moving to another spot or ducking) in time, that someone is violently sent back and gets hurt by the flying pieces of armor.
The Put On System is used to put on the Masked Form armor and change back into Masked Form. "PUT ON!" will be carried out if the Zecter is returned to the state in which it was before Cast Off was carried out. Put On can restore Masked Form either in part (Kabuto reforms the armor for his left forearm to use as a gauntlet for blocking the Sasword Yaiber in a duel with Sasword) or as a whole (both TheBee and Drake agree to Put On in an attempt to fight Ucaworm). Gatack has also demonstrated the ability to use Put On as demonstrated in episode 32.
[edit] Clock Up System
Once in Rider Form the Rider can use the Clock Up System to go into Clock Up Phase. This increases his/her speed, by decreasing the speed of time around the user, in order to catch up to, if not surpass, the speed of molten Worms. When the Clock Up System is active, it exclaims "CLOCK UP!" and when it powers down, it exclaims "CLOCK OVER!"
[edit] Finisher System
Each Zecter has a built in finisher attack that can be initiated through a series of functions. By activating this system, the tachyon particles stored within the Zecter are charged and refined, and then directed to the body part or tool that will execute the attack. This system is primarily used to finish the battle with a worm after it has been weakened.
[edit] Special Systems
[edit] Red-Shoe Device
Based on the tale of The Red Shoes, this particular system is installed into the Zecters of Kabuto and Gatack by ZECT officials. This system was first shown in episode 36, and forces the rider to attack all worms in the proximity, regardless of personal decision. It is almost useless to fight this system as it completely takes over the users will and will even cause extreme amounts of mental pain if it detects resistance.
[edit] Hyper Cast-Off System
Only used by Kabuto, the Hyper Cast-Off System is activated when the Hyper Zecter is installed and the Zecter Horn is pushed down. The structure of the armor changes considerably, the Kabuto Horn enlarges and the Compound Eyes lighten. A Tachyon Plate and several Kabutectors are installed, along with the Hyper Fingers on both hands and the Hyper Step on the right foot. This Cast-Off System gives much more power and functionality to the Rider, easily exceeding the normal Cast-Off System.
[edit] Hyper Clock-Up System
The Hyper Clock Up System acts as a secondary feature to the Hyper Cast-Off System, once again changing the form of the Rider's armor, extending it out on all points. The Kabutectors on his arms and legs unfold; the Tachyon Plate breastplate opens revealing a Tachyon Fractor; the elytra-like rear of the Tachyon Plate opens and generates an alae-like field emission, releasing tachyon particles in the atmosphere. In this tachyon field, Hyper Kabuto is able to create time lag and even surpasses Clock Up, granting him the ability to move between time, although currently this feature is almost uncontrollable. Instances exist in which Hyper Clock Up involuntarily takes the user to a point in time or even out of time. This feature also seems to activate when coming in contact with a fragment of the Shibuya Meteorite.
[edit] Rider Jump System
A system that only exists within the Hopper Zecters, this system allows the user of the Hopper to super-charge either their left or right leg, and depending on the length of the charge, jumps may exceed over 50 meters. This system is used in conjunction with the Rider Kick or Punch finisher to deal the blow in an aerial fashion.

[edit] Perfect Zecter
Hyper Kabuto's signature weapon, this sword-like Zecter is capable of two distinctive modes of function: Sword Mode and Gun Mode. Also, depending on whichever Zecter is currently docked, the Perfect Zecter is capable of utilizing the hyper version of that Zecter’s finishing attack in either Gun or Sword Mode. Once a Zecter color is selected at the cross guard, the trigger is pulled to initiate the attack. By docking all four Zecters, "All Zecter Combine" is activated, allowing use of the Maximum Hyper finishers. When Zecters dock onto the Perfect Zecter, they automatically switch into "Hyper Mode", denoted by the color change and position change.
