Zane Township, Logan County, Ohio

Zane Township is one of seventeen townships in Logan County, Ohio, United States. It is located in the southeastern corner of the county. The unincorporated community of Middleburg lies within Zane Township. The 2000 U.S. Census found 968 people in the township.

It borders or touches the following other townships and municipalities:
- Wayne Township, Champaign County, on the south;
- Monroe Township, on the west;
- Jefferson Township, on the northwest (touches, but does not border);
- Perry Township, on the north;
- Liberty Township, Union County, on the northeast;
- Allen Township, Union County, on the east;
- Rush Township, Champaign County, on the southeast
[edit] Name and history
Zane Township was formed in 1806 from Salem Township, Champaign County. The township is named for Isaac Zane, brother of Ebenezer Zane and an ancestral relative of author Zane Grey
[edit] Government
The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1. Two are elected in the year after the presidential election and one is elected in the year before it. There is also an elected township clerk, who serves a four-year term beginning on April 1 of the year after the election, which is held in November of the year before the presidential election. Vacancies in the clerkship or on the board of trustees are filled by the remaining trustees.
