Zambezi Escarpment

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Zambezi Escarpment is an escarpment separating the plains around the Zambezi river and Lake Kariba from the surrounding plateaus.

The name is used for the steep northern escarpment which lies in Zambia, for the more gentle southern slope formed by Chizarira Hills and Mavuradona in Zimbabwe, and also for the escarpment separating the Umvukwe Mountains in Zimbabwe from the plains near Lake Cahora Bassa.

The area contains the national parks of Chizarira, Matusadona and Lower Zambezi.
