[edit] Career
On July 26, 2006, minor league centerfielder Zack Vank was traded from the Los Angeles Dodgers to the Kansas City Royals organizations, a throw in player in the Odalis Perez/Elmer Dessens deal. He is lauded by Baseball Prospectus as an outstanding defensive centerfielder who hits for a strong average with occasional power and exceptional baserunning instincts. Despite posting strong numbers at each stop in his minor league career, he has never been called up to the major leagues.

His bizarre story of finding himself mysteriously stranded in Minnesota during the offseason led Sports Illustrated scribe Rick Reilly to call Vank "a surrealist with a bat." He was also mentioned in the Los Angeles Times as "the most undervalued prospect in baseball." Vank's lack of any major league playing time is mentioned by Jason Whitlock as one of the organization's blunders [2].
In November 2006, internet blog Quesadilla Warrior [3] published an interview with Vank.

- He has been rumored to be in a relationship with former olympian gymnast Kerri Strug.
- Though he shares last names with defamed former high school pitching star Aaron Vank, Zack insists they are not related.
