[edit] Welcome
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
- The five pillars of Wikipedia
- How to edit a page
- Help pages
- Tutorial
- How to write a great article
- Manual of Style
Here are some other hints and tips:
- I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
- When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.
If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my Talk page, or type helpme on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome!
Thank you again for contributing to Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian.--Lkjhgfdsa 19:57, 27 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Helpme
Hello, you used the helpme tag. How may I help you? When you've asked your question, please put the tag back so we know to check back. Alternatively, you can join the Wikipedia Bootcamp IRC channel to get real-time help. (Use the web-based client to get instant access.) —— Eagle (ask me for help) 13:42, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to WikiProject Dragonlance!
Hi there! I noticed you became a member of our WikiProject and added the userbox! Welcome! I also noticed your message on the Dragonlance page. There are no "rules" neccessarily, as far as writing goes follow the |fiction guidelines and you'll be alright. As far as for what to do, you can check the tasklist on the the main WikiProject page or this broad tasklist. If you need help on editing or style or anything like that, ask me or ReyBrujo. ReyBrujo has been around a lot longer than I have so he's more experienced, but I can help too. See ya! DoomsDay349 20:18, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image tagging for Image:200px-August2003 058.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:200px-August2003 058.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 14:04, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hello!
Hi. There were a few problems with your userpage: A) You had fair use images on it. Basically, fair use is a copyrighted image applied on Wikipedia under very strict guidelines. I don't know much about it; you can talk to ReyBrujo about it, he's very knowledgable. Also, the image you uploaded was uneccessary-simply copy the one that was on my userpage, which you can find at the Kitten article. Just ignore the image, it should be deleted soon. Since you're new, they'll let it slide. As for the "logos" they are called userboxes, and you can find a whole bunch of them at the aforementioned link. Finally, I am taking a short Wikibreak to relieve some stress, so don't bother replying for about a week. Hope that clears some stuff up. See ya! DoomsDay349 20:09, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Welcome to Esperanza
Welcome, Zachary crimsonwolf, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.
Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.
In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.
If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact our administrator general Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!
[edit] Re: Confused
That must have been confusing! You did add yourself to the right list, but it looks like you accidentially got a welcome message sent your way even though you haven't joined yet. It shouldn't be anything to worry about, but maybe you'll get a second welcome when you actually join! Hope that clears things up, if not, feel free to ask more questions. :) -- Natalya 17:13, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Technically, no. But you'll soon be able to be "official", so don't worry about it! -- Natalya 20:09, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Arranging userboxes
HI, Zc. Try userboxtop and userboxbottom to help arrange your userboxes. Regards, Rfrisbietalk 18:41, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
- I fixed up the userboxes as it seemed you were having a little trouble. I also changed a little. Hope you do not mind. – Heaven's Wrath Talk 05:17, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RE:Userboxes
Let me clarify; do you want to upload a brand new image, or do you want to insert an existing image into the userbox? If you want to upload an image, I don't really know; ask ReyBrujo. If you want to put an existing one into the userbox, simply put into the "id" category of the userbox building. If there are any more problems, I'll help you figure them out. DoomsDay349 21:21, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- I've fixed it. Dunno what the problem was, but anyway, here it is:
This user is a member of WikiProject Shannara. |
The code is:

Hope that helps! DoomsDay349 17:26, 24 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:200px-Sasuke Uchiha.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:200px-Sasuke Uchiha.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image is unlicensed for use on Wikipedia and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fritz Saalfeld (Talk) 14:36, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Admin coaching, etc.
Are you ready to get started?
The waiting time over at Admin coaching is long (some people have been waiting in line since July). I'm an admin coach with the project, and for my students I set up a group discussion page so that we could all learn from each other. The scope of this concept has expanded into the Virtual classroom, which is an open forum for the teaching and learning of advanced Wikipedia skills.
Anyone and everyone is welcome to participate, as a student, as a coach, or both. Every week or two a new major topic of discussion or classroom assignment is introduced, usually with a guest writer who presents his or her expertise on the current subject and who remains on hand to answer questions. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the discussions, such as sharing your expertise, asking and answering questions, etc.
The current topic of discussion is vandalism, and our guest writer is Budgiekiller.
All discussions are open-ended, so all previous discussion topics and classroom assignments are still there for viewing and further participation. There are also sections for posting miscellaneous topics and questions, requesting coaching assistance, etc.
In addition to inviting those who would like to learn, I routinely invite experts from all over Wikipedia to come and contribute for the benefit of all. The VC is rapidly turning into a clearing house of the best resources, methods, and techniques known for working on Wikipedia.
You are cordially invited to participate.
Here's an announcement box which you can place on your userpage or at the top of your talk page for keeping up to date with classroom assignments.
I hope to see you there. Sincerely, The Transhumanist 07:36, 12 December 2006 (UTC)
