Z-680
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Z-680 is a model of computer speakers made by Logitech, released in January 2003 and retailing for around $350 US. Z-680s have a strong reputation in gaming circles for having a high quality sound and very loud subwoofer. The speaker set comprises 5 satellites, connected with conventional speaker cable, 1 subwoofer, 1 control module and a remote control. The speakers have disrupted the speaker industry, prompting Creative's latest series, the GigaWorks series. Z-680s put out 500W RMS, which is very large for a set of computer speakers (average set of desktop speakers are 5 to 10W), but has encouraged development of even more powerful systems such as Creative's GigaWorks S750, a 700W RMS system.
The successor to the Z-680s, Logitech's new flagship speakers, are the Z-5500s. Most of the problems people had with the Z-680s have been fixed, such as the hissing noise in the background.
