Yuri Vasilevich Prokhorov

Yuri Vasilevich Prokhorov was a Soviet mathematician, active in the field of probability theory. He was a PhD student of Andrey Nikolaevich Kolmogorov at the Moscow State University, where he obtained his PhD in 1949. He is the namesake (or partial namesake) of:

• the Lévy-Prokhorov metric;
• Prokhorov's theorem;
