Yukon Wild Ass

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Yukon Wild Ass Equus asinus lambei is an extinct subspecies of the horse family, Equidae. They are considered by some to be a member of the same species as the domestic donkey and the African Wild Ass. They were probably much like the wild living asses of today. It has been suggested that the Yukon wild ass is really a horse, in fact the same species as the domestic horse, Equus caballus [1]. It has also been suggested that it is a unique species and been given the name Equus lambei[2].
