Yukon Jack (real name Yukotujakzurjimozoata ) is a fictional character, a superhero in the Marvel Comics universe. He is a former member of the superhero team Alpha Flight.
Yukon Jack first appeared in Alpha Flight, volume 3 #1. The character was created by Scott Lobdell and Clayton Henry.
[edit] Publication History
Alpha Flight volume 3, written by Scott Lobdell, introduced a new team and set a new tone for the series, adding a touch of comedy that hadn't been present in previous versions. Yukon Jack was introduced as one of the new team members, a completely new character whose attitude, background and speech patterns sometimes reinforced the comedic aspects of the book.
Jack remained part of the team until the series was cancelled with #12. The character has not reappeared since and was notably absent when Alpha Flight later appeared in a much more serious role in New Avengers.
[edit] Fictional character biography
Yukotujakzurjimozoata is the heir apparent to the ancient, secret civilization in the village of Kemteron. His father, Makkamakkamaktsptoo, has occupied the throne of their people for several thousand years, but is not much longer for this world, and predicts the throne will fall to Yukotujakzurjimozoata. When Walter Langkowski was drafting new members for an Alpha Flight Strike force, he approached Yukotujakzurjimozoata. He turned down the request, stating he cares nothing for the world outside of his village. Langkowski, however, was in a desperate situation, and desperate times call for desperate measures. Langkowski paid Makkamakkamaktsptoo a large sum of money to drug his own son, claiming he would benefit from some exposure to the outside world, and that it would help him to "grow up". Langkowski has code-named Yukotujakzurjimozoata, "Yukon Jack."
With the rest of Langkowski's new Alpha Flight, Yukon Jack aimed to rescue the original members of the team from their imprisonment in the Plodex ship. This mission was successful, and the original members of Alpha Flight decided to transport the Plodex eggs that had been discovered back to the Plodex home world. Yukon Jack stayed on as a member of Langkowski's new Alpha Flight.
After a series of blunders attempting to alter the past, a temporally displaced copy of the original Alpha Flight members was brought into the present. It is unknown what transpired after that, however a vague glimpse into the future showed Jack and the temporal copy of Snowbird getting married and ruling Kemteron together.
[edit] Powers and abilities
Yukon Jack can manipulate the bones which normally rest over his body telekinetically, which can apparently slice through anything at will. He also has the power to emit light from his hand. He possesses superhuman strength and his skin is very resilient to extreme temperatures.
In addition, he is a very skilled hand to hand fighter, usually fighting with a very strong and durable bone knife.
