Yukimenoko (ユキメノコ?) is one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Yukimenoko in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.
Its Japanese name is a portmanteau of the words 雪目(yukime, snow blindness), and 子(ko, child),or a combination of the words yuki (snow) and menoko (girl).

[edit] Characteristics
Yukimenoko appears to be based of Yuki-onna, a Japanese snow spirit. Yukimenoko bears a humanoid appearance (unlike Snorunt or Glalie). Her body is white with a red stripe around the waist and two red fins on her back (designed to resemble a kimono obi). Yukimenoko has three-fingered hands and a blue fin on each wrist (representing the sleeves of a kimono). The head is round except for a bump on the back. Yukimenoko has a dark-blue lower jaw, dark-blue rings around her yellow eyes and another dark-blue spot is in the middle of her face. Two small "horns" made of ice are on Yukimenoko's head. Yukimenoko doesn't appear to have any feet, so it is reasonable to believe that she floats in the air like her counter-part, Glalie (Yuki-onna is described as having no feet).
[edit] In the video games
Yukimenoko is one of the Pokémon from the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl games who evolves from a Pokémon who was released in a previous generation. Yukimenoko evolves from female Snorunt when the Awaken Stone is used on them. Therefore, this Pokemon can only be female.
In addition to being one of the alternate-evolution of a previously known Pokémon, Yukimenoko is the first Pokémon to be classified as an Ice/Ghost type. Her Special Ability, Snow Hide, allows her evasiveness to rise when Hail is used in battle. Yukimenoko is also extremely fast, but her HP, Attack, and Special Attack base stats are still at 80 (like Glalie), and the base stats for her defenses are both at a lower value of 70.
