Yukikaburi (ユキカブリ?) are one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Yukikaburi in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.[2]

Its Japanese name is a portmanteau of the words yuki (?), snow, and kaburi (?), head. Based on its appearance and type, its name could also be associated with the word kabu (?), turnip.

[edit] Biological Characteristics

Yukikaburi resembles an anthropomorphic daikon, or Chinese white radish. It has green stalk-like hands at the tips of its arms, and it has a zig-zag pattern separating its brown lower body. On its head it has a white hat-like structure resembling a mountain with three peaks.

One can say that Yukikaburi has a resemblance to a snow covered fir tree, having brown legs resembling the trunk.

The zig-zag pattern color differs between male and female of the species. In the winter, frozen candy-like berries grow around its stomach.

[edit] In the video games

Yukikaburi is unique as it is currently one of only two Pokémon that are both Grass-type and Ice-type; the other being its evolution, Yukinooh. This gives it great power over some Pokémon such as Ground and Water-types, but it becomes very weak to Fire-type attacks.

Yukikaburi is also used by the seventh Sinnoh Gym Leader, Suzuna, at level 38.

Yukikaburi's ability, Snow Storm, summons hail in battle.
