[edit] End of an Era
Having been invaded by the Axis Powers in 1941, the Kingdom of Yugoslavia was dissolved and any sport in the nation was virtually ended. One exception was the Nazi puppet state Independent State of Croatia (NDH), which enjoyed peace per se as an Axis member. The NDH continued to hold national competitions (featuring prominent teams such as Građanski Zagreb) and friendlies versus Axis states.
In 1946, the Prva Liga was reinstated.
