Yu Boya

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Boya (伯牙) was a famous musician in ancient China, during the Spring and Autumn Period or the Warring States period.

He was known by his first name of "Boya", although his surname may have been Yu (俞), thus his complete name is sometimes given as Yu Boya (俞伯牙).

The Lute Platform in Hanyang, Wuhan, China was where the legendary musician Yu Boya is said to have played. Yu Boya played for the last time over the grave of his friend Zhong Ziqi, then smashed his lute because the only person able to appreciate his music was dead.
