The following is a list of minor characters in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX (Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters GX in Japan) anime series. Japanese names are documented first in Western order, followed by English names, if applicable, and voice actors/actresses come before seiyū.

Kohara / Brier 小原 A Ra Yellow student who is a great duelist but also has a weak mind. Brier came up with a character called "Duel Giant," a mysterious duelist played by his friend Beauregard, to win cards by bullying Obelisk Blue students into unauthorized ante battles. Taira Taizan / Damon 大山平 Taizan Taira An Obelisk Blue student who left to live in the wild to perfect a strange drawing technique. Kagurazaka / Dimitri 神楽坂 A Ra Yellow student who tends to mimic other people's decks, impersonating the owner of the deck in almost every detail. After losing a duel against Syrus Truesdale (Sho Marufuji) with a copy of Crowler's deck, he decided to steal Yugi Mutou's deck from its display case during an exhibition. Despite its possession, Dimitri is defeated by Jaden as he lacked the same heart that Yugi put into creating his deck. Copy

He was originally a duelist who gave up the game after an encounter with Seto Kaiba, but after seeing Jaden and Bastion Misawa (Misawa Daichi) battle one another, his dueling spirit was rekindled and he decided to help find the missing students of the Academy. Mokeo Motegi / Belowski 茂木もけ夫 Motegi Mokeo An Obelisk Blue pupil and former top student of Duel Academy who has the power to communicate with Duel Monsters. Those in his presence gradually fall asleep without proper precautions, thus he is confined to his own personal dorm, a "paradise" as Crowler calls it. He returns during the second year as one of the few Obelisk Blue students left untouched by the Society of Light, and participates in one duel of the Genex tournament.   • The concept of Kabukid's Battle-Claw Kitsune and Drum of the Fabled Curse is derived from the Japanese tale, Hatsune no Tsuzumi.
  • The name of Kabukid's Imperial Dragon - Genghis Ghun is a pun on the name of Genghis Khan.

  • Parker's Bacchus, the Hard-Drinker God is based off the Greek and Roman god of wine, Dionysus.
  • The first part of the name of Parker's Foaming Beauty - Champagne when left untranslated, "Happō Bijin" (発泡美人), is a pun on "Happōbijin" (八方美人), a person "beautiful from all angles." While "Happō" (発砲) is the Japanese word for foam, it is also the word for "firing," which indicates the pop of a champagne cork that occurs when a bottle of the beverage is opened.
  • Parker's Big Vintage - Magnum-Mouton plays on the word "mouton," French for "sheep," which also alludes to Château Mouton Rothschild. The "Magnum" portion of its name refers to both a 1.5 litre wine bottle and ammunition cartridge case.

Ikaku Tachibana 橘一角 Tachibana Ikaku A failing duelist originally from North Academy who makes a deal with The Reaper, selling his soul to obtain incredible draw power and wearing the card around his neck as a symbol of the pact. Although he claims that his goal is to be victor of the Genex tournament, his true wish is to experience a trusting bond with his deck.   • Tachibana's One-Slash Kill! Quick-Pull Draw references the Japanese art of drawing a sword, iaido. In the context of the anime, the drawing of cards to perform a One Turn Kill is compared to the drawing of a sword to defeat an opponent with a single strike.

Doctor Collector ドクター・コレクター Dokutā Korekutā A collector with an IQ of 200 who duels with DD to claim the title of king in the Pro League. He has the ability to read the minds of other duelists, and in the past, aided the FBI in solving card-related crimes while in jail because of his vast knowledge on the subject. The fire caused by "Ultimate-D" in the Pro League stadium is linked to Collector's death, but DD believes it was in fact the shock of being defeated by him that proved fatal. Spellcaster Lock

DD DD ("Destiny of Duelists") DD is Aster's legal guardian, and the reigning king of the Pro League of ten years. He is also the culprit behind Aster's father's kidnapping (murder in the Japanese version), having stolen the "Ultimate D-Card." Because the card was corrupted by the Surge of Light / Light of Ruin, DD developed a split personality, a sadistic and uncaring "devil" bent on destruction. After being defeated by Aster, he is killed in the explosion resulting from Ultimate-D's purification. Bloo-D

  • When DD visited Sartorius in the past, he wore an outfit reminiscent of Destiny Hero - Double Dude. This is symbolic of DD's split personality.
  • In episode 98, DD's Drain Time seals Aster's Clock Tower Prison. This is symbolic of Aster's fear that his "time" has stopped since the day of his father's kidnapping.
  • DD's Blood Note references the Death Note series, indicating the parallel between Aster's wish to rid the world of crime and the intentions of Death Note protagonist, Light Yagami.

  • The proper original name of Alice's Eshila the Lovely Bisque Doll, "Ecila," is "Alice" spelt backwards, mirrored, specifically, in the case of episode 80's events.

The Reaper 死神 Shinigami The malevolent spirit of a legendary cursed card sealed in North Academy. Tachibana sold his soul to the spirit in return for unearthly draw power. The Reaper is able to possess others and manifest Tachibana's monsters as real beings. His contract with Tachibana is broken when the duelist resolves to achieve victory through his own hands. Kouyou Hibiki 響紅葉 Hibiki Kōyō Midori Hibiki's brother, once a three-time Duel Monsters champion, who gave Jaden his deck, including the one-of-a-kind Elemental Hero Terra Firma card. Kouyou, while in the hospital, decided to duel Jaden despite his failing health. Chazz received an autograph from him, and in the process, Kouyou's Winged Kuriboh altered Chazz's "Light and Darkness Dragon" card. His name means "autumn colors." Elemental Hero None
