Yousef al-Khalidi

Yousef Dia Pasha al-Khalidi (Arabic يوسف ضيا باشا الخالدي) was a prominent Palestinian who played a major political role in the Ottoman Empire dominance period. He was born in 1829 in Jerusalem.

He was elected to represent the Jerusalem district in the first Ottoman Parliament (1877), he became head of the Jerusalem Municipality in (1899), and died in 1907.

Al-Khalidi played a key role in the opposing political factions established to prohibit the Ottoman Empire's attempts to violate the constitution. He also wrote the first Kurdish-Arabic dictionary.
