Your Precious Love

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Your Precious Love" was a 1967 hit by soul music legends Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Written by Ashford & Simpson, backgrounds by Nick Ashford, Gaye, Terrell and Jimmy Beavers, and instrumentals by The Funk Brothers, the song became a tribute to the doo-wop stylings of Gaye's early work and led to the song's soulful breakthrough. This song was one of several songs by Gaye & Terrell that became a memorable anthem of love and romance during a tense time in American life in the late-1960s. The song peaked at #5 on Billboard's Pop Singles chart and #2 on Billboard's R&B Singles chart.

A cover version by D'Angelo and Erykah Badu was released in 1996, and an acappella cover of the song by Cedric the Entertainer and Avant figures in a gag sequence in the 2004 MGM film Barbershop 2: Back in Business.
