Young, Gifted and Black is a soul album by Aretha Franklin, released in 1972. The song To Be Young, Gifted and Black was originally written by singer and pianist Nina Simone and first performed on Black Gold (1970).
Young, Gifted and Black won a Grammy Award for Best Female R&B Vocal Performance. In 2003 the TV network VH1 named it the 76th greatest album of all time.
