You're On!
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
You're On! was a Nickelodeon television game show which aired from 1998-1999, which took a premise similar to Candid Camera. However, Nickelodeon's transformation of it into a game show featured youth contestants trying to convince passersby to complete a series of predetermined tasks while they were unknowingly on camera. The show was taped in Soundstage 18 of Nickelodeon Studios Florida and was hosted by Phil Moore. The show's use of a SteadiCam during Moore's in-studio stand-ups on the show was rather unique, as the only other Nick game show to implement the camera's use was Wesley Eure's version of Finders Keepers.
[edit] Rules
Two kid contestants on a remote location work together to complete three tasks, each with a common theme. The tasks involved convincing passerby to do silly things, like kissing a fish or playing hopscotch with one kid riding piggyback on them. The kids had 10 minutes to do this. Performing all three tasks won a prize (such as a Nintendo 64, snowboards, or camping equipment), failing wins a smaller prize (usually a gift certificate).
Three games like this are played. The later two games had a feature called the "Runaround", played in the studio. Six people, two from each section of the audience, would be called down. After they saw the three tasks the kids had to perform, they had to guess how many tasks they thought the kids would complete. Getting it right won a prize.
In the first runaround, all six players were kids. In the second, it was three kids and three adults who were somehow related to the kids.
[edit] Trivia
The remote hosts for “You’re On” were Vivianne Collins and Travis White. These two would brief the kids on their tasks, congratulate them when all three tasks were completed, or let them know time was up.
At the end of each show, one of the adult Runaround losers and their kid would be called to the center of the stage. There, Phil Moore and the kid would do gross things to them, such as pouring slime on them or getting them to stomp on large purple balloons to make "grape juice". On one episode, the tables were turned on Phil. Before Phil could call anyone to the center of the stage, Vivianne & Travis suddenly walked in from backstage. They, along with Phil's own son Daniel, proceeded to slime him with a variety of substances.
Reruns have aired on Nick GAS. It was dropped from the schedule in late 2004.
