Dear friend..I edited the page with the inormation provided by the Indian census report...it wasn't any arbitrary number....You may check it on official website of Indian census report...Since the [Allahabad]] page is of Allahabd city then one need to mention the population of Allahabad city only not of Allahabad district in order to provide correct information.....the figure mentioned by you was of Allahabad district and not of Allahabad city..If you wish to provide the population of Allahabad district kindly create/edit Allahabad district page on wikipedia with that information.
As you mentioned that a postal code represents a postoffice area...true...but The code I mentioned is of Allahabad HPO.....That acts as the main post office for Allahabad district as well as Allahabad city and all the posts arriving Allahabad are distributed to the respected areas through HPO...the info abt the postal code is informative in nature for the people who want to reach Allahabad guyz through postoffice...it is not extensive in nature...You'll find such practice on all the pages on wikipedia showing information abt a city/town. As you said Allahabad will have thousand post offices...to correct you my dear wikipedian friend Allahabad has 16 distinct postal areas within the city limits...If you wish to provide them all you are welcome to do so...All in good faith Rohit Saxena| (Talk) 23:25, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
