YOUSSEF TABTI, BORN IN PARIS, 12 03 1968 VIDEO ARTIST AND PHOTOGRAPHER

YOUSSEF TABTI DECIDED TO LEAVE PARIS IN 1989 AND LIVED IN SEVERAL CITIES IN FRANCE AND GERMANY BEFORE SETTING DOWN IN HAMBURG. HIS FIRST EXHIBITION WAS HELD AT THE MUSEUM FABRE IN MONTPELLIER IN 1994 ALONG WITH THE ARTISTS CLAUDE VIALLAT AND DANIEL DEUZEUZE. SINCE THEN HE HAS HAD MORE THAN TWENTY EXHIBITIONS IN FRANCE, SWEDE, THE UNITED STATES, HUNGARY, GERMANY AND ARMENIA. IN 2002 THE YELLOW SERIES ("LA SÉRIE JAUNE") CREATED AT PONT-AVEN WAS AUCTIONED OFF AND BOUGHT BY THE COLLECTOR HARALD FALKENBERG OF THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS (KUNSTHAUS) IN HAMBURG.HE CREATED A STAGE SET/VIDEO FOR THE FRENCH CONTEMPORARY OPERA WHICH THEN WAS AWARDED THE BEAUMARCHAIS PRIZE AND WAS THE FIRST TO BE SHOWN IN THE UNITED STATES. IT WENT ON TO BE SHOWN IN THE PARIS THEATRES THE "THE ROND-POINT", THE "LUCERNAIRE" AND THE "MAURICE RAVEL, CISP" . IN 2005 HE PARTICIPED IN THE 3RD TRIENNAL PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION IN HAMBURG. SINCE 2002 HE HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF ONE OF THE OLDEST ARTIST'S ASSOCIATIONS IN GERMANY ORIGINALLY KNOW AS "KÜNSTLERHAUS HAMBURG E.V. AND NOW RECOGNISED UNDER THE NAME "FRISE". IT IS THE THANKS TO THIS INSTITUTE THAT HE HAS BEEN ABLE TO ACT AS A MEDIATOR BETWEEN FRENCH ARTISTS INVITED TO EXHIBIT THEIR WORK IN HAMBURG IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE FRENCH INSTITUT AND THE BDAP (BUREAU DES ARTS PLASTIQUES). HE HAS BEEN INVITED BY THE FRENCH EMBASSY IN BERLIN, THE AFAA AND TRAM TO BE THE CURATOR IN 2007 IN PARIS FOR THE PROJECT ENTITLED "FRENCH TOUCH".
