Yonowahru (ヨノワール Yonowāru?) is one of the 493 fictional species of Pokémon creatures from the multi-billion-dollar[1] Pokémon media franchise – a collection of video games, anime, manga, books, trading cards and other media, created by Satoshi Tajiri. The purpose of Yonowahru in the games, anime and manga, as with all other Pokémon, is to battle both wild Pokémon, untamed creatures encountered while the player passes through various environments, and tamed Pokémon owned by Pokémon trainers.

Its name is a portmanteau of the words yoru (?), night, and nowāru (ノワール?), the French word noir.

[edit] Appearance

Yonowahru's body is mostly black, with two yellow almond-shaped spots and a yellow horizontal zigzag line on this Pokémon's torso which can open like a mouth (creating the illusion of a face). Yonowahru has now developed arms. Two yellow bands are near its wrists and its grey hands are similar to Dusclops'. Yonowahru has a grey, cylinder-shaped head with another yellow band near the top and a single black eye with a red pupil. Yonowahru has a yellow antenna on top of its head in which allows this Pokémon to receive transmissions from the spirit world. Yonowahru has a ghostly tail instead of feet like Dusclops, resembling the stereotypical depiction of a genie.

[edit] In the video games

Yonowahru is one of several new Pokémon from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl that evolves from an earlier Pokémon. Yonowahru evolves from Dusclops when it is traded while holding an item called Spirit World Cloth.

In addition to being an evolution of an older Pokémon, Yonowaaru is the second Stage-2 Pokémon that is a Ghost-type (the other one being Gengar). Yonowahru is also the only Stage-2 Pokémon that is a pure Ghost-type.
