Yocheved Bat-Miriam

Yocheved Bat-Miriam, Israeli poet, was born in Russia in 1901. She is unusual among Hebrew poets in expressing nostalgia for the landscapes of the country of her birth. She migrated to the Land of Israel in 1926. Her first book of poetry, Merahok ("From a distance") was published in 1929. In 1948, her son died in the Israeli War of Independence. After that, she wrote no more poetry until her own death in 1979.
