Yndi halda (pronounced YIN-dee hal-DAR) are an instrumental band from Canterbury, United Kingdom. 'Yndi Halda' is Eddic for "Enjoy Eternal Bliss", also the name of their "self-titled" debut. The band writes expansive, cinematic music comparable to Sigur Rós, Explosions in the Sky and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, but are often considered more 'optimistic' or 'hopeful' than these bands, allowing them to stand between the 'traditional' post-rock genre and the more upbeat North American indie rock bands such as The Arcade Fire, while their use of folk-influenced guitar arrangements occasionally sees them compared with Nick Drake and David Pajo.

[edit] History
Comprised of members Jack Lambert (guitar), Brendan Grieve (bass), Daniel Neal (violin), Oliver Newton (drums, tambourine) and James Vella (guitar, glockenspiel, lapsteel, piano, banjo and vocals), the band formed in 2001 while all of the members were still in school. In the summer of 2005, they began recording the three tracks that make up self-released Enjoy Eternal Bliss (EP), which was finished in the autumn of that year. A fourth track was recorded for the world-wide release of Enjoy Eternal Bliss in August 2006.
The self-released edition of Enjoy Eternal Bliss was often reviewed favorably (although the band has boldly copied negative reviews onto its MySpace site) and gained attention because of its distinctive, individualized hand-made covers.
They have since gained fans from the self-released EP despite their limited exposure on the live circuit and have recently signed to the acclaimed European record label Big Scary Monsters and Burnt Toast Vinyl in North America.
The band were recently voted 'Ones To Watch in 2007' by [1]Rock Sound magazine in the UK.

The Lunchtime Sardine Club is Newton's solo side project. No plans have been made to release any compositions. However, tracks can be downloaded from The Lunchtime Sardine Club's Myspace page here.
James Vella has a side project called A Lily. His Myspace page can be found here, which includes samples of his music. His debut album was released on Dynamophone Records in June 2006.
Vella and Grieve have recently launched their label O Rosa Records on the web. Currently, there are no signings or planned releases (both to be announced "soon"). The label promises "non-western, interesting folk music with lovely vocal harmonies and nice use of orchestral instruments, but not as a rule." The label's website can be found here, and its Myspace page here.
