Yla Steven is a violinist and professional musician based in Edinburgh, Scotland.
[edit] Early life
Steven became a violinist at the age of seven. She studied in Perth and Kinross and later graduated from the Royal Academy of Music and Drama in Glasgow.
[edit] Recognition
Steven has won championships at Ayr, Aberdeen, Banchory and Kirriemuir. In 1976, she was the first winner of the Daily Record's Golden Fiddle Award.
She conducts the Lothian Schools Strathspey and Reel Society. Steven plays in the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra.
She teaches violin and viola for the City of Edinburgh Council Department of Education.
