[edit] Extra Curricular Activities

Clubs are weekly after-school activities that are open to all students from Year 1 through Secondary. A variety of clubs are offered for Years 1-3, Years 4-6 and secondary school.

There are two cycles of clubs each year, with registration taking place prior to each cycle. Generally, the first cycle occurs during Term 1 and lasts for 8 weeks, while the second cycle begins during Term 2 and continues into Term 3 for a total of 12 weeks.Students may participate in only one club per cycle. Some clubs extend across both cycles and therefore require a yearlong commitment (Girl Scouts is one example).

Clubs are scheduled for either Tuesdays or Thursdays from 3:15 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.Bussing is provided after clubs for students who regularly take the school buses.

While most clubs are free, a fee may be charged for some clubs to cover materials (as with the Cooking Club), entrance tickets (as with the Swimming Club) or the hire of outside experts (as with the Dragon International Chess Club).

[edit] Sports teams

School sports teams for both boys and girls are generally formed for football (soccer), swimming, volleyball, track & field, and basketball. All sports teams are generally limited to Secondary students only.

Each sport is played on a seasonal basis and involves competition against other international schools in Beijing and Tianjin.Practices and games generally occur at least twice a week, are outside of school hours, and may require some weekend commitments. Each sport usually culminates in a season-ending tournament.

Members of sports teams may also participate in clubs when space is available.
