Yeshivat Hakotel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Yeshivat Hakotel is a modern-Orthodox religious Zionist hesder yeshiva situated in the Old City of Jerusalem. The yeshiva overlooks the Kotel (Western Wall); hence its name. It is led by Rabbi Mordechai Elon who is the sitting rosh yeshiva.
For many decades, Yeshivat Hakotel boasted a very popular program for American high-school graduates. The rosh yeshiva of this American program was Rabbi Aharon Bina, son of Rabbi Aryeh Bina (1912-1994), one of Yeshivat Hakotel's founders. In recent years, Bina has moved to Yeshivat Netiv Aryeh along with much of the foreign-student faculty.
Rabbi Avigdor Nevenzahl, the chief Rabbi of the Old City, also is on the HaKotel staff.
