[edit] New Member

12:15, Mar 3, 2006 I added the fact that Yeah Yeah Yeahs have recently begun touring with guitarist Imaad Wasif, who is also featured on their new album. He usually plays acoustic guitar to accompany Zinner's electric guitar. crapple33

iirc they said he was only for the tour in an interview on MTV Overdrive. Need to check again to confirm --2ltben 05:13, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

someone should talk about the time she performed while in a wheelchair,.

[edit] {{{country}}}?

What is with the term {{{country}}} next to the "origin" heading? Shouldn't it be U.S.A., or am I missing something here?

[edit] plagiarism

I had to remove a giant bulk of the article because it was already copyrighted by the "All Music Guide". If you don't believe me follow this link : http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:2jxsa9rgq23a~T1

I put in a breeze through paragraph, if anyone wants to elaborate in their own words, they should.

[edit] About the Show Your Bones tracklist

  • The Show Your Bones entry had "Deja Vu" as the last track on the album. But from what I've seen from AMG and the CD itself, the album seems to end with "Turn Into". I've changed the entry accordingly. 15:49, 1 April 2006 (UTC)
    • Deja Vu is not the "last track" it is a bonus track. Its not on all versions of the cd. Heres a version with it here. (chubbstar) 19:50, 26 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article length

OK, this has been bugging me for months... am I the only who thinks this article is way too short? Shouldn't there be a lot of info about the history of the band to add, or perhaps some more detailed exposition on their albums, or something? I really don't think a few paragraphs do YYYs justice. -- Kicking222 02:38, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

Add to your heart's content. This is wikipedia, the encyclopedia that anyone can edit.
Haha, yes, I'm well aware. Obviously, by making that comment, I'm also implying that I would add to the article if I could. While I don't have more encyclopedic content on the band (though I could give them pages and pages of fan service), I'm hoping that somebody does. -- Kicking222 14:31, 17 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] YYY Image

There's been some perfectly good images used for the band, albeit copyrighted but loads of wiki pages use them. Apparently only copyrighted images are to be used if no free alternative can be found. I have no problem with this other than the image in this article is pretty pointless considering you can't really see the band and one member isn't portrayed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Maps15 (talkcontribs) 16:29, September 3, 2006 (UTC-6)

If you're unhappy with the image, then replace it with a better freely-licensed one. Why not try writing the band's management to see if they'll release a publicity photo under the GFDL or one of the acceptable CC licenses? Or go to one of their concerts and take a better photo yourself, or have a friend do it? —Chowbok 23:37, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
It's perfectly fine to use promotional photos for band profiles. Almost every band article has a promotional photo. There is no preference and the promo photo falls under fair use as well. I'm perfectly fine with using a free use photo but only if it's a good one. The picture is dark, doesn't have all the members, and isn't that good of a photo. Please just let the promo photo stay or find a better picture. thanks. -Myxomatosis 06:21, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
No, actually, it's not "perfectly fine". Read the license. It says the image can only be used "in the absence of free images that could serve such a purpose". That's not the case here. If you're unhappy with the image, then why not be constructive and find a better free-use image, as I suggested above? —Chowbok 07:00, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
Also, it is emphatically not true that "there is no preference". Quoting WP:FUC: "Always use a more free alternative if one is available. Such images can often be used more readily outside the U.S. If you see a fair use image and know of an alternative more free equivalent, please replace it, so the Wikipedia can become as free as possible." —Chowbok 07:18, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
The rules also state "that would adequately give the same information". As this pic omits information about the band, it does not adequately give the same information.--CyberGhostface 20:30, 29 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Artist of the Month?

68.64.157.127 has recently vandalized some pages. I suggest checking the edit "The Yeah Yeah Yeahs were titled the Artist of the Month on Yahoo.Launch.Com for October 2004.". PrimeHunter 01:19, 1 November 2006 (UTC)
