Yatağan is a town in Yatağan District, Muğla Province, Turkey, about 26 km from Muğla.
[edit] Yatağan Power Plant
Since 1990s the town has been attracting world attention due to the ecological pollution by the nearby Yatagan Power Plant, one of the largest Turkey's coal-burning power plant, built in 1976. It was campaigned for shutting down by Greenpeace since 1994, and several shutdown court orders have been issued, only to be overruled or ignored because of energy shortage. [1]
