Yarrawarrah, New South Wales

Yarrawarrah is a suburb in southern Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is located 32km south of the Sydney central business district in the Sutherland Shire. The postcode is 2233, which it shares with neighbouring Engadine. It is also adjacent to the suburb of Loftus.
Yarrawarrah borders the Royal National Park and contains many pockets of bushland. It is a hilly suburb stretching to the valley of Engadine. Yarrawarrah contains many streets named after places in Western Australia, including Wittenoom Place, Roebourne Street, Carnarvon Street. Yarrawarrah Primary School is located on Old Bush Road.
Yarrawarrah contains a small shopping village with a Windmill, one of its greatest landmarks, which has been a part of Yarrawarrah’s heritage for some time. It is also the home of the Yarrawarrah Mudcats, a foundation team of the RBFFL.

Yarrawarrah is an Aboriginal word meaning mountain ash. It was officially recognised by the Geographical Names Board in 1971.
