Yandina, Queensland

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yandina is a Sunshine Coast hinterland town on the Bruce Highway, approximately 110 kilometres north of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Its current claim to fame is in being a ginger town. It is the home to the Buderim Ginger Factory.

Yandina has a population of around 1000 people and boasts the record of being the first town in what is now one of Australia's most prominent travel destinations, the Sunshine Coast. It was originally planned to be the centre of the shire but as the local sugar mill was built in Nambour, more and more people who worked there moved closer.

Yandina Station on the Nambour and Gympie North Line has passenger train services to Brisbane.
