Yambrasbamba District

Yambrasbamba is a district of the province of Bongara. The district occupies an area of 1.715,96 km ². It was created on December 26, 1870 and his population in the year 2002 belonged to approximately 12.000 inhabitants.

The capital of the district is the city of Yambrasbamba, placed to a height of 1.903 meters on the level of the sea. The city has an attractive ambience with beautiful sceneries; in her one finds varieties of orchids, and trees of big plenty. It is crossed by the river Imaza.

The population of the district is principally rural and of half-caste origin. It is composed by two peoples, six hamlets, five annexes and thirteen agricultural units. The population devotes herself to the bovine cattle, to the production of milk and to the culture of yacón, corn, carrot, swallows and coffee.
